The indigenous family has been “reverenced, stereotyped and vilified from the days of slavery to our own time,“ says the The Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The unity and family identity of the black, hispanic, and native community has been torn apart by slavery, prison systems, government systems, music, and entertainment. The indigenous people have been a subject of a divide and conquer scheme. As a community, we lack unity between our brothers and sisters of the 12 tribes of Yisra’El.
